Brief Description about Program :

Development of eye care services at different levels.
Providing eye care services including cataract operations for all specially for weaker/SC&ST and rural population through Fixed O.T. approach.
Providing spectacles ( thus preventing development of blindness ) after examining eyes For refractive errors in school going children aged from 8 to 14 year.
To train ophthalmic surgeons and para-medical workers involved in the program in modern technique of operation, community education and equipment management.
Involvement of N.G.Os. in the program and providing cash assistance and in the form equipment etc.

Year of Starting : 1977-78Program running in District : All 75 districts of UP

Program Objective : To bring down prevailing blindness rate of 1.0% to 0.3% by the end of year 2020.
