National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP)

Increasing consumption of tobacco in different age groups has become a serious concern. Nearly a million lives reach untimely death due to its heavy intake; which can rather be evaded if by precautionary measures. Consumption of tobacco causes fatal diseases mainly cardiovascular, respiratory and cancer.

Considering the above, Indian Government is running National Tobacco Control Programme and COTPA-2003 in all the districts of the state in accordance with the following:

Objective: 

National Tobacco Control Programme emphasizes primarily on the following 5 activities to prevent the side-effects of tobacco:

1. Monitoring and reporting of Tobacco Control Law
2. Information, Education & Communication (IEC)
3. School Level Activities
4. Tobacco De-addiction Centers
5. Training for the Concerned Officers/Staff
